coffee and boxes
My mom came over yesterday to help me pack up our kitchen. And, what seemed to be a daunting task at first, suddenly became enjoyable. Why? Because I had someone to share it with. It started me thinking how many things in life are so much more enjoyable with you have someone to share it with: shopping, napping, watching a movie, road trips, eating lunch, drinking coffee, and, yes, packing up to move.
We were created for relationship. A lot of times I like to do things by myself and for myself so I won't put anyone out or make them feel like they're being used. But that's what families and friends are for. With the best unconditional love we've got, we do for each other what needs to be done. Jesus wasn't put out when he had to turn around and raise Lazarus from the dead and he didn't feel used when he had to fill his disciples' boat with fish. Those were choices he made, on purpose, because he loved his friends and saw their need.
I don't want to just be needy - I want to be needed and take advantage of every opportunity to serve and love on others. That's what He put us here for: for His glory and the good of those around us.
